      I’m pretty sure that is the plant rooting. Ivy & ivy-like plants (generalization) do whats called *layering*. It’s how they naturally propagate.

      So, if you’re looking to make more plants at any time, prune the plant at the previous node (just after the leaf extending on the left & bury the trimming. Those roots will take hold & develop into a new plant.
