Personally never owned ZZ. But I think it’s got too many leaves on the stem for prop. Energy stored in the stem were used to keep the leaves alive, instead of sending out new roots.

    Chop the stem in half?

  2. I recently propped one. It took around four months to get roots. I planted it in soil about a month ago and it seems ok. But no visible growth. I propped a Snake Plant around the same time with similar results.

It took forever for my zz to get roots. If it’s not dying and the bottom stem isn’t mushy, all good.
