Looks great, big improvement! Where have your windows gone?
A massive improvement.
It’s already a huge improvement. A couple of tall perennials like verbena or lupins at the back would be an effective addition
Is that a fake tax window?
Edit: also looking great but more more more plants. You want to plant twice as many as you need, so that when half of them die the bed still looks great.
Also some large rocks on the outside corners of the bed will discourage anyone from driving over it (ask me how I know)
What’s with the windows?
Could put some trellis up over the false windows and get a climber there. Everyone banging on about wisteria at the minute.
Just not ivy, that has its place in someone else’s garden.
Nice work! Pop a few Heuchera in there as they can get quite big and be split later on. Free plants!
Huge improvement well done. That wall though, I always think architects do less and less architecting every year. Please put something tall in the middle of the wall and hide the middle window sill, do it for OCDs sake 😂
I have no idea on your aspect, but some plants that preservere through slugs, full sun, clay and wet northern winters in my garden are –
Ornamentals…
– Geraniums, johnsons blue is the classic
– Sanguisorba tenuifolia ‘Strawberry Frost’
– Persicaria bistorta
– Phlomis russeliana
– Erysimum ‘Bowles’s Mauve’
– Thalictrum ‘Black Stockings’
– Campanula ‘Canterbury Bells’
Little filler shrubs…
– Hehe ‘blue ice’
– Pittosporum ‘bannow bay’
Or you could go for standout bigger shrubs for structure…
– Philadelphus ‘Mock orange’ or others
– Forsythia, remember to cut back after flowering
– Euonymus alatus, variety size dependant
– Guelder rose, personal fave
Get some bulbs in there in autumn too, stick to the classics for guaranteed success next year
How much tax do you reckon you’ve saved so far from bricking up some of your windows?
Much better than before ❤️
Looks like a really lovely start.
I’ll need some weeding work as you go, so little and often is key.
Much easier to remove small weeds with the roots than if they get established
