How could you leave out what it tastes like? I feel like that is the most important part.

There is some type of pink roses that grow in bushes that you can make jam with adding sugar. Best jam I ever tried. Can be used for baking cakes, cookies and whatever.

My hasband and i moved into a new house in a new town last fall and we decided to go check out one of the shops here. They had all kinds of spots for various local crafters and vendors and one of them did canning like pickles and jellies.

    Lilac jelly

Lilacs are my favorite flower and i was absolutely shook to find out they could be made into jelly. We bought the only jar there and ate it almost immediately. Tasted very mildly sweet, wish i could remember to give an exact like flavor. Would make some myself this spring if i didnt end up having a baby 2 weeks after we went to that shop 😂

Our lilac bushes arent going anywhere though so someday ill have time to, hopefully the little guy will want to help make it 💖

Looks gorgeous! I’m not a huge fan of a lot of florals in food like rose and lavender, but I do love hibiscus flower so I would love to taste this.

    Hooooooooold on.

Peonies are my most favourite backyard garden smell. Does this jelly taste like peonies smell (plus lemon)?!

I made Violet jelly. It was a very pretty purple color but the flavor was a very mild floral flavor. I didn’t think it was worth the trouble

So jealous! My grandma had so many beautiful peonies in the US. I moved to Taiwan, tried to find peonies to put in my garden (they’re my favourite flower) and was told that Taiwan is too hot to grow them😔

I learn something knew every day on this site, didn’t know that one could make jelly from flowers

  10. Very pretty. My mother did the same with the hulls from purple hull peas.

Have you ever turned it into a cheong first and then jellified that?

You can even get cold-setting pectin so you don’t have to heat it up.

I wonder if the flavor would change very much.

Me crying here because my peony only has three surviving buds this year

I did this with honeysuckle last year.

It tasted EXACTLY how honeysuckle smell. It didn’t last very long in this house.

I made viola jelly a few years ago with the Johny jump- ups which completely filled a raised bed! The color was more magenta but just as beautiful a color. It tasted like berries. I didn’t know peonies were jelly worthy! I just might have to p,ant more peonies!

The day I’ve had. This thread is the antidote. I love this so much and all the comments.

Holy crap I have a ton of peonies that will bloom soon ish and I can’t wait to try this!!

So happy that you found this out about peonies! Be sure to use the jelly within about 4 to 6 months. The color and flavor fades. I usually jar it into 4oz jars for that reason. Next year, try your hand at lilac jelly. Make sure that you use the purple single blossoms, as they hold the most flavor. And clean them well, blossoms only.

I had no idea that peonies were edible! That jelly sure is pretty

This sounds like you accidentally turned your garden into a fancy perfume shop and I kind of respect that even if your wife absolutely does not 😂
