Ich bin zum ersten Mal hier als Gärtner (seien Sie also bitte vorsichtig). Ich habe einen Tipp für die Vorbereitung Ihrer Hochbeete durch Mulchen mit Pappe gesehen, was ich vor etwa zwei Monaten mit etwas übrig gebliebener Verpackungspappe, die ich hatte, gemacht habe – ziemlich großzügig, mit einigen Abschnitten, die sich überlappten. Ich habe ein paar Tüten Kompost darauf verteilt und ihn regelmäßig gegossen, weil ich dachte, er würde in kürzester Zeit zerfallen.
Aber wie Sie sehen können, zersetzt sich die Pappe nicht … sie scheint den gegenteiligen Effekt zu haben, indem sie die Nährstoffe des darüber liegenden Komposts zusammenbackt/abbaut (Bild 5) und ihn vom Boden darunter trennt. Ich glaube, ich habe zu viel/die falsche Art von Pappe eingelegt, würde aber gerne eine Diagnose darüber bekommen, was ich hier falsch gemacht habe.
Noch wichtiger: Was mache ich jetzt?! Sollte ich einfach die Pappe entfernen und dem Bett etwas Pflege geben? Wird dadurch der Boden ruiniert bzw. kann ich in den nächsten Monaten noch mein Gemüse anbauen?

Are you sure they didn’t mean cardboard at the bottom of the raised bed? As a weed preventative, then compost/mix then seed/plant then topsoil?
Cardboard takes 2-3 years to break down.
It’s fine. I’d give it a good soak add around 25cm of decent compost/manure mix & plant straight into it. Look into [Charles Dowding’s techniques](https://youtube.com/@charlesdowding1nodig?si=hJKWT-UmeUluIQwz) for the basic principles but it’s a really terrific method of gardening, reduces work and improves soil health & structure no end.
It just needs to be more wet for longer, when you go to plant make sure its wetter still and just plant through it. Adding more multch ontop will help keep it moist too.
Personally, I get a load of well rotted manure/compost mix on the top of that. At least 10-15cm worth. Then keep it wet enough that the bed is damp throughout. The worms will do the job for you and if you plant straight into the top layer then the roots won’t worry about making their way through the cardbroad to help break it down even more.
The main mistake here is not putting it at the very bottom.
Just need to put more compost on top.
They say cardboard is safe, the glues and inks but given the proliferation of packaging needs and the recycling process im doubtful of its eco integrity or its so called safe for human integrity. If it was me id get rid and just mulch the top to stop weeds. Mulch is great because if you do get a weed its easy to pull.
