Als ich nach dem Winter meine Baumgrenze aufräumte, stellte ich fest, dass zwei meiner Huechera keine Wurzeln hatten. Bei näherer Betrachtung entdeckte ich einige Dickmaulrüssler um die Reste des Wurzelballens herum. Ich habe einige Nematoden bestellt, die morgen kommen sollten, wollte jedoch fragen, ob ich die gesamte Grenze mit den Nematoden bewässern soll oder mich nur auf die Stellen konzentrieren soll, an denen die Huechera vorher waren, sowie auf die Umgebung, in der sich noch eine Huechera befindet. Wird der gefürchtete Dickmaulrüssler auch die Wurzeln aller meiner Pflanzen fressen oder sind es nur bestimmte Pflanzen? Die Bilder stammen aus dem Sommer 2025 und dienen nur zur Veranschaulichung der Boarder-Größe.

They are a nightmare, find the remainder of the plant you took out, plant up sections of it, don’t bin them, you’ll get more plants because of it, most my Heucheras are the end product of these little bastards eating the roots of my other Heucheras.
Watch for adults on plants, go out with a torch when it’s dark, you’ll find them on leaves. Slow moving so easily caught, armour plated, they take some crushing.
Take cutting make more plants incase of these situations there easy to get cutting from
As someone who has suffered with vine weevils, there are definitely plants they prefer (or at least are more vulnerable to them) and Huecheras seem to be at the top of that list.
I ended up giving up having Huecheras in my garden, as even with nematode treatments and doing sporadic grub extractions, they always seemed to be the plant I’d lose. They also chomped up a Spirea and a Gaillardia but everything else stayed unscathed.
