  1. This is genius, now fasten a light to the top so they get lots of bright sunlight.

I’d be worried the sharp plastic edges would damage the leaves and be a point of entry for rot to set in. Leaving them on top of a dish of soil always worked fine for me.

  3. I am entertained by this concept; screw the haters, it’s just a few cheap leaves anyway for having fun.

Oh interesting! I like seeing creative ways to prop!

If they grow little babies will you be able to pull them out without the hole breaking them?

What if you cut circles that can fit used bottle spouts then you can gently lay the prop and it will have lots of room. May need a second bottle for this idk. I’d go easy on the water

I love this. I’m always up for finding ways to reuse plastic bottles and things like that and this could definitely be a good use for it. Did you just do this or have you done it before? Does it work well if you have?

So do you just use this for the humidity or do you shake it occasionally to get them wet?

Do you shake it or mist it to give them a little water? Honestly, if it works it works and gives a few more uses out of something normally single use.

I love when people get mad about proplifting in the sub specifically for proplifting

I have the brightness all the way down on my phone and I thought this was an attempt at a gravity bong gone wrong

I’m new at succulents so mind if I ask, what does best with this set up? Anything that hates it?

I guess you just cut the bottle open to retrieve the props once they are big enough to move? Seems like it’ll be a but annoying but I do appreciate your innovation, regardless!

Interesting looking, but I promise your success rate will be higher if you just toss it on some dry succulent soil and ignore it for a month. Succulent leaves evolved to just fall off the mother plant and get growing in the same arid conditions, they don’t need or want high humidity like a seeding. Any excess humidity and you’ll start having some turn black or yellow and die before producing a pup. Best of luck with them!

  15. Una manera más de reutilizar, yo lo hago pero cortando unos cuatro centímetros desde la base de abajo, no me puedo permitir comprar macetas y son bien útiles

Hey I’m clumsy and I might’ve missed this when I read the comments but how do you make that many holes in the bottle without accidental bloodshed 🥴

Interesting, might try this with succ leaves! Rhipsalis too. A few other plants that sprout from humidity. Better strike rate than just sticking them into soil or throwing them at pots and praying, especially if I actually care about a fairly rare thing I’ve got. Some cuttings might benefit from a weak dunk with rooting hormone as well.

it’s certainly something! i love the dedication and experimentation…but so much unnecessary effort. i keep em in a bowl on a shelf next to my couch. every few days i look for roots and a baby. if present, ya get access to a lil tray w substrate and your new nursery mates

eta: i do prioritize genetics and space though too. like, if you dont make it, oh well i probably have a stronger specimen. and if i dont, man i like em hardy so good riddance tiny fella i am sorry rip

  19. CrazyPlantLady143 on

you can just leave them on the counter for a couple days and then plant them and theyll do fine

Great idea. My first thought when I saw it was that they were tadpoles, then I realised some were somehow outside the container…
