    No, I definitely did.

Lovely guy posted some free plants on FB Marketplace yesterday. This 10′ White Bird of Paradise started at 10″ ten years ago on his dad’s counter-top. His dad passed away, so he gave me this, a gorgeous Flaming Katy that is in full bloom right now, and an Oxalis Triangularis.

I thought my 15′ bedroom ceiling would be tall enough, but no, it’s too big, and no way I could provide it enough light with a north facing window. Already have somebody else lined up to take it. :/

Yeah, it’s not realistic to keep that in that space. You could blast it with light – which isn’t trivial for a plant this size – but you’re almost at the limits of your space already.

Moving up to the “tree size” of tropical plants really requires a greenhouse/solarium type of setup, or a climate where it can live outside.

  3. I’m looking at my now 3 foot tall, started at 1.5 9 months ago, with great anticipation now. We have 20 foot ceilings and tons of light so I have room for a dramatic giant plant. It’s been growing strong with a new leaf ready to rock. But the extra plant, there were 2 in the original pot from ikea, is definitely going to need to come out of my study with its 8ish foot ceilings.

  4. Omg absolutely stunning!!! Thank you for helping it find a home with what it needs!
