As others have said, it’s a Schefflera arboricola. It could be leggy from lack of enough light (they like a lot of bright light, and can even take a little direct sun). If you suspect root rot, you can check by carefully sliding it out of the pot and inspecting the roots. The roots should be pale and firm. Any mushy, brown roots should be removed, and you may need to replace some of the soil with a well-draining, somewhat gritty mix. Another possibility is that it’s root bound. If that’s the case, you can repot into a slightly larger pot. You can also trim some of the roots if you need to. Either way, let the soil dry at least halfway down into the pot in between watering. Make sure the pot it’s in has drainage holes and that it’s not sitting in any water after you water it.
