Needs dirt I think…I mean I know people like them in water but the wife got a giant low fat avocado had the hugestest pit I’d ever seen. I stuck it in a 6 inch pot cuz ya know I had to see…2 weeks later and I know it was a foot n half tall. This was in summer so I’d stick on heat mat indoors for extra speed if chilly but not too much it’ll die. Don’t overwater.
lol downvote me all you want… they do better in soil. They don’t grow in a jar of water where they live

Although it’s best to plant it in soil I don’t think the water is causing this. It looks like some sort of mutation

Could it be that this fruit has been irradiated?

I start avocados in water all the time so that’s not normal but it’s cool let it grow and post any changes
Sometimes a random seed will just grow deformed (this applies to any species). It’s usually due to random genetic issues. I would just toss that seed and try again, as it’s unlikely to ever grow properly.

Nutrient deficiency. Too young to reproduce. Like jerkin it and shootin blanks as a pre-teen.
