I don’t have an answer for you, I’m sorry. I just want to say when I first glanced I thought this was a picture of the back of someone’s leg with that title.
It’s a tuber, does this one soak up any heavy metals from the soil?
I don’t have a clue what it could be, just yapping
Cut it cross section and see if they line up with the tubers xylem/phloem. If they seem to be organized around the central core, is likely a safe tuber. Check other ones for these same structures. My bet is safe, but I haven’t grown enough Daikon to know for sure
any time I’m wondering a similar thing I google images of “sliced [insert vegetable / fruit]” and look at close up pictures taken by other people until I see what I’m dealing with and if the [articles or posts or whatever](https://chillcrispbyxueci.substack.com/p/extra-crunchy-mala-preserved-daikon) (random article about them with pics) don’t mention it being an issue I (sometimes) just eat it.
I looked up images of daikon radishes sliced and I’m not seeing any with that, which is strange.
This is the beginnings of a type of fungal disease, or blight. Harmless to humans and safe to consume.
I find those little black lines to be relatively common in daikon when I grow them. I just cut them out and eat the rest.
