Wow! There’s so much going on with this flower including what looks like a spider. I wonder if that’s an evolutionary defense mechanism? So no other spiders come mess with it? Or am I just putting my own spin on things? I don’t know it’s still really early for me lol

    2. Ahhhh! So pretty!! I missed NINE blooms on mine back in July ☹️

So I got mine as a big leaf cutting over a year ago, planted it and rooted, it’s put off a few new shoots, and what looked like it was going to be a flower but it died pretty quick. How old is your plant?

So beautiful!! Very intricate details. Does it have a fragrance to it?

I have never heard of this type of orchid not to mention seen a picture of it’s awesome bloom. Now I have a new infatuation and this one can be pampered inside!!!
I agree about the spider look-a-likeness and some of the possible reasons for the shape of the gawgeous blossom.

Googled this after admiring your bloom, you should post the rest of the plant too! Not many pics out there with both

So jealous, my cats would absolutely destroy this 😭.

It’s absolutely beautiful. I can see where the name comes from

The soil it is in and the gangly stems I could see. Of course your photo was not of the whole plant just that gawgeous Bloom and as I said I initially I was not familiar with that particular Bloom, even if it was an orchid, I am not one of those know-it-alls by any stretch of my imagination.. LMHO I do love orchids and several other plants that can be grown indoors.

Normally I get at least 3-4 flowers every summer. This year, nothing.

my mother used to have one of these. We named her Audrey lol. Every year we’d hold a bloom party … obviously it was a rather impromptu thing but my Dad loved it, as did the neighbors. It was fun 😀

I just got a cutting of this! Could you describe your care routine, OP? Yours looks so healthy.
