My neighbor has an enormous hot lips which frequently blooms year round. Fantastic early food source when the bees wake up!

Fairly new to having an allotment in the UK. I Love salvias, especially all these *S. greggii* perennial varieties with profuse small flowers. I had a huge collection of them in New Zealand! Now got 2 small plants at my allotment now, and definitely plan to collect more of the colours .
…. Please advise: **do they need protecting with frost cloth or rain protection or suchlike here in winter?** I am in central Scotland. How do I keep them going? My experience of growing them is in a much warmer (and drier) climate.
(*Of course I am still getting used to these cold wet winters myself lol*.)
Advice would be very much appreciated! Thanks.

We love Salvias too but even a garlic solution doesn’t deter snails/slugs – any tips for keeping the alive/uneaten??!

Stunners. In the UK theyll often flower right up to the first frostkeep deadheading and they wont quit. A light mulch now helps them overwinter. Looks like a microphylla-type?
