    1. Surely something on a much more regular and grand scale happened when we domesticated dogs and cats. But I really get some satisfaction and fascination out of seeing this!

One of the best parts of gardening, interacting with nature. Love it.

    3. I have had them dive bomb past my right ear from a nearby limb to catch a bug in the leaves at my feet. I was kneeling and cleaning and pulling weeds, but still fun to see.

    4. I had a pet spiny too. He liked freeze dried crickets. I kept them in a little dish for him on the patio. We became bros after I tossed him a grub while I was gardening.

    5. No freakin way! I’m pretty sure that’s a Texas Spiny Lizard. I have them in my yard but they just run from me. I would love to help a lizard rustle up insects!

I love this so much. We have one in my front yard nest the garden hose and if I’m ever over there I can see him skitter away. It’s so hot here I keep a dish out under a tree with water. Now I’ve got to find bugs for mine …

Adorable little fella you’ve got there.

You can tell people you have a small dinosaur protecting your garden.

And it shows…he’s a little chonker! 🦎 I love how close your hand gets to him and he doesn’t flinch!

You just discovered a biological awesomeness called mutualism.

When two separate species can benefit from each other.

These have been lean, hungry times. Zizz’nak has forgotten the last time he wasn’t merely eking out survival in this blasted land. But now there was hope.

The gigantic fey creature raked the ground again with its grotesque appendages, turning over huge logs and massive piles of debris with ease. Underneath was heavenly sustenance – the wood lice and grubs Zizz’nak and his tribe have not seen for many moons.

Having been sent to scout this corner of the wasteland, Zizz’nak had anticipated possible death and maiming from the many possible predators that hunt their kind. What he did not expect, however, was help from this strange creature only spoken of in legends.

Zizz’nak knew now that his tribe will survive, for they have found a patron. A veritable god that will help them uncover the desolate soil. They will crown him and call him their king – and he will lead them to a safer tomorrow.

He is … THE LIZARD KING

He’s smart like my chickens, they know it’s on when I’m disturbing weeds and things.

Chickens are fluffy dinosaurs, reptiles are mini dinos.

One of the best things I ever figured out for my hens is having old wood or boards laying all around their run and from time to time picking it up to open the buffet. So if you have some room to host some decaying wood for your friend, I’m sure you’d appreciate all the shenanigans 😄

Robins follow me around outside for a similar reason, but a lizard would be so awesome. I don’t really get lizards where I am. What a nice garden friend to have.

I love it! You have a gardening buddy!!

Have you seen the youtube video of the older gentleman feeding a fish to a very large water snake. He has his pants taped tight at the bottom so she wont accidentally slither up the wrong place. She comes to the pier every time he does… practically climbing into his lap to get her meal.

I used to have a Cuban anole that would sit under my water spigot and wait for me to turn it on!

I’ve got a bunch of lizards in my back yard, they come out every evening after I water. I noticed this one guy completely passed out on the brick, so I picked him up, and kept him in my hands until I dropped him in the freshly watered flower bed. The next night, little guy was laying on the same spot. This became my routine and this little fella showed up every evening around sunset. I dug him out a little corner of the flower garden and built a small rock house out of pebbles, thinking that they would retain heat that they picked up throughout the day. I go out that night and he isn’t in our meeting spot, I go to the rock fort and there he is, his little tail sticking out of the fort.

I hope he survives the winter, or that there are some eggs in that fort. I’m gonna miss that guy come winter

We have an alligator lizard in our yard named Cliff, but he likes to keep his distance. I’d totally rustle up leaves for him if he was down.
