That’s not a POS, that’s your neighbor. You moved into his hood.

You can thank him for pollinating your plants for you once he’s grown.

What in the world of murderous garden gloves is on your fingers?

    4. cybrg0dess on

I have one on my tomato. I am letting him enjoy it. Wasn’t doing great anyway.

You just killed one of the most important datura pollinators. The sphinx moths (Sphingidae sp) are some of the only pollinators with a proboscis long enough to pollinate datura’s tubular flowers. Looks like he was also almost done eating.

    6. Always fascinates me when people who hate bugs pick up gardening, of all things, as a hobby

    7. This is the most divisive creature I’ve ever seen in this sub. I still don’t know what I should do when I find them in my tomato plants. Obviously I’m not going to sacrifice my tomatoes, but not sure what to do with them other than removal in that case.

Wait…your growing devils trumpet? Super toxic and totally invasive. Maybe work on getting rid of that instead of that little guy who would have helped eat it away for you…

Humans calling any other creature just living their lives and eating the food they find a POS is always amusing to me

So you’re able to use those gloves?! I couldn’t grasp anything with them.

    11. When I find these or any worm thingy on my pepper plants they get gently rehomed to the giant Mexican azaleas that cannot be killed, at least not by the weather in my area.

Imagine abusing an animal because it had the misfortune of being born into a body you don’t approve of.

Well its good you came off of it okay. Also you should put the caterpillar back.

Datura is a good one to leave them on. Datura is super resilient and will grow back just fine, plus you’re (most likely) not growing it as a food source (like you would with tomatoes, peppers, etc.)
Here in Austin I have huge datura plants that grow as weeds so I take the hornworms off and put em on those…at least sometimes

They are all about nightshade plants. Eating the nightshade plants is a part of their lifecycle. Epic moths❤️

Why would you remove him from his fooood? He’s gonna turn into a night time butterfly! Are you gonna eat that datura? 💀

I’m sorry but frankly you sound like the POS. That worm grows up into one of the only successful pollinators of your precious devil’s trumpet. A plant by the way that you cannot eat. The only value the plant has to you is aesthetic, and frankly it’s not even high up there in the beauty department. You planted sphinx moth gold and then get mad when the sphinx moths show up. That’s like laying dead fish in your yard and then being upset when the racoons and opossums show up.

What is the charge? Eating a meal? A succulent devil’s trumpet meal?

    19. IconoclastJones on

You like those gloves? I found them to be of negative net value.

He was just hungry :[ it’s not his fault he doesn’t know any better.

    21. PaintIntelligent7793 on

Just toss him into the neighbor’s yard. Don’t want to hurt him. He’ll turn into a sphinx moth! They’re kind of beautiful and good nocturnal pollinators!

Boooo. This is a terrible attitude. We should be growing the plants  to feed the creatures that help us sustain a healthy ecosystem.  otherwise why even bother.
