Worm casts. 100% friendly activity and a sign of healthy soil. ( Almost wrote worm sign – been watching too much Dune 😂)

Free aeration, the worms come up for air when it’s raining. The casts can look unsightly on very manicured lawns, if so when they’re dry just brush them in lightly.

Not the first time this has been asked on the gardening subs, but it still amazes me that people don’t seem to know, or have never seen, worm casts?

I’m going to put it down to the digital age where so much time is spent in front of a screen, especially when growing up, rather than outside in nature. Even kicking a ball around in the park, people must have seen these surely?

Or, maybe I was in a minority who used to play outdoors a lot when young?

    4. For me, trouble.

I get so many and they never dry out for me, so it makes the lawn hard to use after September

Not only free aeration but free mulching and composting too. Bargain at the price.
