Vielen Dank.

Start with a hoe and a spade and dig it over. Find out if it is clay or lighter. How much sun does it get? How much maintenance you want to do?
You will probably need some top soil if you have removed old shrubs, to reinvigorate the soil.
The you can decide whether you want shrubs or flowers. But basic work first.
Autumn is a good time to plant perennials and bulbs while the soil is still warm, before the first frosts
Do you know what the shrubs were and if they had been previously been growing well in that location?
If the grew well there and you’d be happy with them if they looked good, it’s worth considering (improving the soil withh compost) and gettin the same again.
It looks a tricky & very dry spot so you also have to think about what’s further along the driveway (towards the house?) so that whatever different, new plants you decide on will be complimentary, or you’ll end up with a patch which looks good on it’s own but doesn’t really ‘fit’ with the rest of the border . (ie you might need to do a larger area than just the patch in the photo)
is it dry and shady?
Violets love that. solomans seal. foxgloves. hellebores. jacobs ladder. bittersweet nightshade is nice and you can probably find some berries still around for seed if you go walking near streams. a mahonia will probably tolerate it. bugle will spread
