Oh man I was walking in the door from work the other night and the porch light was on. Something made me look up and I saw the biggest stick bug I’ve ever seen in my life curled around the light. Thing was legit like 6-8in long at least! I ran inside and turned the light off real quick so he could move on with his life lol

It’s all fun and games until you encounter a striped one and you end up in the hospital. In Florida we have southern two-striped walkingstick that sprays a chemical as a defense mechanism. I know someone that disturbed one while opening their gate and got squirted in the face. They had to go to the ER to have their eyes flushed.

I spent years terrified of walking under trees and one of those falling on me. Yeah, people say they’re harmless and stuff, but go tell that to teenage me. They still give me the chills, but the panic over them has gone away at least.

He was crawling on a tshirt and was about the size of a dime. A long, skinny dime lol. He’s a black swallowtail butterfly caterpillar and they like any plant in the carrot family, including dill
