Have you had then directly on the ground? I think you need them on something like a tile or a rock
That’s the fruit aborting. It happens due to incomplete pollination usually, although it can also happen when the plant thinks it already has enough fruit or is under significant water stress.
Are you hand pollinating? If you are not, you may want to consider doing so.
