I grow ghost peppers every year, it looks just like it, but some of these hot ass peppers can look pretty similar,

Those bad boys are carolina reaper and one of my favs to grow extremely extreme HOT…. I like to dry them and grind them into a pure hot pepper powder Clearly a seed mixup when they were packaged.
I love these! They are Carolina reapers. My wife grows them for me along with 5-6 other peppers from mild to… well this. I chop them into slices and pickle them all together and put them on sandwiches in a game I like to call pepper roulette. If you can’t handle heat just send them to me. I’ll eat them all.
These look like Ghost Peppers to me, the wrinkly skin is the biggest clue. Reapers are rounder with little tails and lots of raised bumps. There are some other peppers that look similar to ghosts but they’re far less common and unlikely your mom would have gotten her hands on them unintentionally.
These are missing the little hook at the blossom end which would give them away as Carolina Reaper. Looks more like Apocalypse Scorpion, Death Spiral, or Ghost. Regardless I’m jealous, my Peach Ghost aren’t ripe yet.
Agree these would make excellent pepper powder once dehydrated and ground. Just be very careful, particularly around pets or young kids.

I didn’t know what a lunchbox pepper was by that name, but after a google search I couldn’t help but laugh at the thought of unsuspectingly eating one of these thinking it was a lunchbox pepper 😂😭
They could just be an misformed lunchbox pepper. You’d only know by giving one a taste. Chances are you will know by the slightest of taste. Though if it is a carolina reaper that slightest taste may be a full day recovery if you are not tolerant of hotter peppers. Most stores don’t offer super hot pepper plants so has me doubting its actually a hot pepper, but stranger things have happened.
