Many such cases! Maybe a controversial opinion but I think a lot of people are doing too much for their plants. Maybe not “too much,” because that implies they’re hurting their plants and they’re not, but rather much more than they need to be. Obviously there are exceptions with plants that need very specific conditions to thrive. But for a lot of plants, get them the right amount of light and water them every once in a while and they’ll still pop the fuck off. I’ve had plants THRIVE on care routines that’d make a lot of houseplant hobbyists cry.

I think it comes down to the fact that houseplants are a hobby for a lot of people, and people like to spend a lot of time on their hobbies, but a plant doesn’t really need hobby-levels of care. So people invent a lot of extra ways to care for their plants so that they have more things to do in the hobby they enjoy. It’s harmless and fun, so who cares, but if you’re stressing yourself out with super intense minute care routines maybe try taking a step back and employing the “monstera in the corner that thrives off of water bottle dregs” routine.

I would say that to me it seems a bit like it’s struggling a little the way the leaves are curling in on themselves. Mine gets like that when I neglect it for too long, and new leaves are pretty weird and stunted too at that time.

I mean, it looks like it’s being neglected. Maybe you need to aim for a middle ground! 😊

It looks thirsty lol. This isn’t a plant that’s doing great. Its roots are getting unevenly watered which is never ideal. A monstera wants to mostly dry out before being *thoroughly* watered. It’s not difficult and a lot of people overthink it, but don’t think that you’re doing bad in comparison to this person.

It’s high from the fumes of his laundry detergent so it’s probably not conscious of the fact that it’s thirsty 😉
