You will have to dig all the mint out as it will grow from a tiny bit of root. It’s best if mint is kept in a pot.
Yeah, mint in the lawn isn’t great.
See if you can find where the edge between the lawn and the bed would be and make a line (string ties to sticks would work as a start) and then methodically remove the mint from the lawn.
You’ll need to get the roots out, so my favourite tool for this (and most!) job is a hori-hori or Japanese digging knife – a hand trowel or old blunt knife will also work!
It’ll be hard work but worth it! You could use a fork or spade to dig the entire area if you’d rather, but I find hand tools and persistence more effective!
Don’t feel you need to get everything sorted to start with – getting things under control and then observing for a year will tell you if there are bulbs or other perennial hiding, and also give you opportunity to figure out where the sunny/shady bits are for future planning!
Good luck and have fun 🙂
Just mow it, it will be fine.
The way some people carry on in here is ridiculous.
No need to dig it out from the lawn , just mow.
Honestly what do people think escaped mint will do? Take over the entire country ???
Keep mowing, it’ll go eventually.
Hey so mint spreads by stretching out roots under the ground, if you want rid of this you’ll want to dig it all out. You could try sieveing the roots out of the soil using a garden riddle.
i like mint its pretty and has nice flowers
