She doesn’t really care about it so it’s thriving out of spite. You should hide yours in a dark corner! 🤞
I never truly questioned my sanity until I got plants
This reminds me of the men with perfect hair and skin even though they use a 6 in 1 body wash for everything.
Beautiful,just Beautiful
Mine die every time. No matter what I do.
I assume it’s a regular pot, but it looks like it’s in a crock-pot. 😀 I swear I have a crock-pot that looks just like that.
Looks amazing
Tap water? My plant is offended. Lucky!
Yet mine looks like absolute shit as of late 😂
Gorgeous!
I have just thrown mine out. Everytime I looked at it i felt depressed it looked like shit
I bought two of these a couple months ago, with no idea they had a poor survival reputation. Thank god, they still look fine 🤞. Mine are slightly larger and I do 2C hard tap water a week each. They get indirect light from North and West facing windows 6-8ft away. And currently high heat and humidity from the summer. Looking the same as when I bought them but Reddit’s making me nervous.
Nice to know neglect is possibly the answer 😂
I will admit ever since I moved mine to less light and away from humidity it’s doing so well 😅

This is mine. I don’t do anything special either. It’s just the genetics of the plant and luck. Got it at Trader Joe’s about a year ago.
How does it feel to be god’s favorite ? 😭
I love seeing posts about how hard Prayer Plants are to take care of. (Humility control and such)
I treat mine like your mom’s and she does great. 😀
Tough love 🌿
It’s so pretty it doesn’t even look real
I feel both worse and better about my orbifolia that I have had for four years and brought back from the dead 4x. It’s currently pushing out new leaves. 🤞🏼
I buy these and they die in the car on the way home.
I water most of my plants once a month-it’s amazing how they do when you let em dry out a bit longer!
I think the plant respects her unbothered attitude and decided to adapt.

This was mine. Had her on a case of beer haha, but she was too big for my apartment so I sold her for 10 euros / 14 USD… I now want her back..
My (current) plants thrive on hate. I have no idea why. I give them the bare minimum to survive and I give them the finger twice a day, they thrive. I try to spoil them like my mums, they wilt. Hate it is, then 🤷🏻♀️
Hold up. What’s wrong with tap water? I’m confused
my rattlesnake calathea has two new leaves after basically being dormant for two years lol i call that

In the most respectfull way: f u
(I ruined 4)
You guys aren’t using tap water for your plants?
I harp on this endlessly: these are forest plants. They thrive with a healthy dose of benevolent neglect.

My mom has about 50 house plants scattered throughout our house and they are all healthy and vibrant. She does exactly what your mom does. I took a page out of her book and started doing the same thing with my plants and they have never been better, not one withered leaf. I just pretend they don’t exist
Meanwhile my plants: “This soil’s PH level feels 0.1 off my ideal so i’mma head out and die real quick.”

Here is mine. This bitch is in a terracotta pot and gets leftover water from the fridge. It is on the second to bottom shelf BEHIND my couch in the darkest corner of my living room. The 2 foot one that I baby and give what I’m told is best constantly tries to die. Whyyyyy 🫠
What a way to find out your mom id an earth witch! 😉
Wait… isn’t it normal to use tap water?
ask if her water has fluoride, that’s the biggest problem with tap water and calatheas. second being the rest of the mineral salts.
my town doesn’t do fluoride and I have a whole house filter (totally not installed for the plants, I swear) so my calathea doesn’t mind the tap.
