Looks like horseweed.
Horseweed
Marestail/horseweed.
Horseweed.
Horseweed
A common weed that can definitively be invasive if not native to your area
Can grow up to 5 feet tall
Heads up: Toxic to cats & dogs
It can actually have pretty flowers and looks cool in your pot. A weed is only a weed if it’s unwanted, even when its name is Horseweed!
I did get a chuckle at the large “I DON’T KNOW” sign!
lol my son is growing the same thing in a pot and it’s taller then him. Can’t wait to show him. No one has any idea what it was.
Somebody definitely planted magic beans. Do not climb.
Could only be the work of magic beans. Did you happen to trade a cow recently?
It’s called a Ron Jeremweed. It looks kinda gross but it has staying power.

Edit: She’s 5’7” for scale
That’s one happy weed
That’s a sneed tree
Dumb question 😬 How do we tell the difference between blazing star and this plant which most people are saying is horse weed? Thank you!!

Lol!!! SAME boat, different state! I’m in California. I was just letting this grow to be however tall it wants to be. It’s horseweed. Great for pollinators this time of year, as I’ve been told since they’re about ready to start their short-lived blooming. They get to be around 7 feet tall when they start their blooming process. I say enjoy the show and see what happens. Mine is a little over 6 feet tall, so I’m letting mine (also planted by a bird or squirrel) do whatever as well.
That sign is hilarious. Yeah, and like others said it’s likely horseweed

A weed is just a plant growing where it’s not wanted.
This thing is hilarious looking and I love it.
Do you have a son called Jack?
I actually let these stay since they’re native to North America and if I’m gonna have aggressive plants around I’d rather it be this than the thistle, crabgrass, and quack grass I’ve also got going around.
Horseweed!! It just keeps getting taller and then eventually makes very tiny not flashy lil flowers and then they make seeds that are fluffyish like a milkweed. I let one grow one year just to see what was going on but this year I pull them up.
It’s native to North and South America if that’s where you are. It’s an annual it just seeds very easily and will come back again. It’s considered a weed and it’s considered noxious in Ohio and Oregon.
Native tribes used it for a few things, varying from tribe to tribe. The Zuni people crushed the flowers and put them in their noses to force a sneeze to relieve runny/stuffy noses. The Seminole people used it to combat colds and coughs. The Iroquois people used it to combat fevers. The Navajo people and Chippewa people used it for stomach pain.
What did you do with our cow Jack!
Something similar happened to me once. When it reached 2 meters, I cut it off. I didn’t want it to get in the way of the International Space Station.
Ignore the weed comments. There is no such thing. All plants are plants it just depends on weather you want it or not. I have patches of these on my property and all along the roads in my area. NW WI.. They grow in patches and get big purple flower. After the heavy rains we just received they will be blooming like crazy. Like any plant we control where they grow by mowing.
It’s a Feephi Phofum.
