I had a greenhouse moved (rotated 90°) with a bit of repair – If you happen to live in Kent, David the greenhouse man is for you

But between the pair of us we could lift the frame – I Wdnt have wanted to lift it over a fence but 4 burly men maybe able to; or could you take a fence panel out just to shift it

You can but you do have to dismantle to move.
Unclip the panes carefully and set aside, then the frame, same in reverse. Have done it and it’s possible with care.
No way you are going to just lift in one go, don’t even try !

    3. With the glass out, they’re light enough for one person to lift. Except for the shape which makes it awkward. 3-4 is probably safe if you’re lifting it over a fence.

Only real issue I foresee is it may be quite well attached to the ground.

    4. If it’s aluminium and it’s all bolted together correctly and all the glass removed then they are light as a feather and easy to move

I recently inherited a 16′ by 8′ greenhouse from my neighbour. I removed all the glass, then 4 of us just lifted and carried the bare frame across the road to our house.

The frame won’t be heavy, and if all the bolts are tight it should be quite rigid and easy to carry. If you have to dismantle anything, you may find the bolts snap (normally made of soft aluminium).

Easily replaced though, just make sure you get aluminium greenhouse bolts or they’ll rust in no time.

Defo doable lifting over the fence. However, being aluminum, you can only tighten the screws to a certain degree. So there’s a risk of them getting loose, shifting, or just falling apart on the move.

Another option would be do dismantle in big sections (4 walls, and a roof) that way you really only need 1- 2 people. I’m a regular built woman and have managed this. Should give you and idea how light it is (minus the glass)

      P.s: WEAR goggles and gloves

    7. glass out , two people, people get inside, lift evenly so you don’t twist the frame – ours got transported here on a trailer , secured by 2x2s tiewrapped to the frame so it sat over the rim of the trailer

I’d swear this is identical to the one I’ve just moved – glass comes out v easily but I’d recommend safety glasses so you don’t get a glass clip pinging into your eye when you remove them.

I had to use a knife to break the seal between some panes and adhesive but that was easily done. It was screwed into the concrete blocks at the base, they actually came out fine and the frame could be unscrewed and kept in segments rather than completely broken down.

I’d make a wooden frame and cross brace it to prevent it twisting too much.

Should be light but brittle. I’d recommend sitting it on some 2×4’s and lifting it stretcher style. That way it won’t flex too much with two people either side holding the timber and not the frame.

Yes, my bf & his mate brought mine in just this way, including lifting it over my fence! They are both in their 60s.

Thanks all! Lots of great advice, too many to reply to, I am much wiser now. I think we’ll break it into 4 seeing as it’s gotta go upwards a fair bit. Much appreciated
