I love these, osteospermum or as my MIL calls it “Acid Daisies”

Does this close up in the shade/dark? I’ve bought these before and have felt fooled by their beautiful flowers only to have them closed a lot of the time. My front beds are in the shade by 2pm. I saw them this year and didn’t fall for it! 🤣🤣

We saw some at a garden shop and they are gorgeous. Almost look fake, like they can’t be that pretty! ☺️

Absolutely gorgeous! My Mom gave me 3 brown paper bags full of seeds from her zinnias last year. I can’t wait to see the colors.

One of my favorites. I used to plant them every year but they seem to hate our summer heat and stop blooming so it’s not worth the money and effort for a few blooms sadly.

FYI, midAtlantic ppl, anyone living in cursed US hot and humid summers – FORGET THIS PLANT. It will be lovely in the spring but absolutely stop blooming once the heat and jello air set in. Might come back in the fall with a flower or two. MIGHT! But probably not.

I fucking **love** this flower.

Hey OP, maybe you don’t care about longevity because you’re labeling the Osteo as an annual, but consider spreading out those plants. You’re going to have a moisture conundrum with that arrangement. You can either water the Osteo correctly and the Persian Shield will die of thirst, or you can water the Persian Shield correctly and have the Osteo rot. Both plants will also grow more than 2x their current size if healthy, so they’re also too crowded if you want them to survive to next year.

[Osteospermum is a cool weather plant. It goes somewhat dormant in hot weather. It is semi-succulent, and does not do well in constantly wet soil.](https://questions.gardeningknowhow.com/tag/osteospermum/)
