      If you want to grow one, they are very easy and messy.I threw one in the back of the block,with the intention of setting up a garden.and forgot about it.Six months later it threatened to take over a corner of the yard.

    3. Strelitzia reginae. There is another, S. nicolai, that has white and black flowers – known as Giant Bird of Paradise. We have both and enjoy them both.

      Used to work at a florist shop. When the orange petals (usually the top) start to fade, we would pull them off. Next stick your gloved finger in the green slimy “pocket” and pull out some new orange petals.
