    Danke!

    1. Dig around them. Pull them out when you’ve dug enough material out around them.

If they’re concreted in, then there will be a big concrete ball at the bottom that you’d need to pull out too.

If you have access to a pickaxe or mattock, then dig around them a bit and use the tools to lever them out. If they are concreted in then you might just have to dig them out

Drive the pointy end of a pick into the wood, then use a another piece of wood or brick under the pick and leevrage them out.

Or just cut them off and forget about them

      A. have money and can get a mini digger easy

      B. Have money but the mini digger don’t fit Spade and willing relations to help.

(Never overlook relations to do menial tasks in a fit of athletic bravado.)

      C. Are you all alone? then wear ear buds play a self help podcast and through the tears of loneliness , regret and life choice frustration dig with vengeful purpose ( painkillers , antidepressants and a good doctor may be advisable to have on standby)

    5. Dig down one side of the post, leave some of it covered, will help you to lever it out and save you some work. You want a graft ideally to do it (long thin digging implement), if the post is rotted and it splits, you can drive the graft straight down the middle of it. Source : my dad is a landscaper and I spent many a school holiday/ weekends doing exactly this ha.

If there is concrete round the base of it and you can’t lever it out whole, you need a heavy crow bar or an electrical breaker to smash it out … if it’s hard , be hard with it 🙂

I just did this myself – find a sacrificial piece of timber, place it against the side of the knackered post and give it a couple of hits with a sledge hammer/large piece of stone/brick (whatever you have available). Move it to the next side, do it again… give it a wiggle and see if it pulls out…if not, rinse and repeat until it does!

Don’t hit the post directly if it’s rotten as it’ll start to disintegrate
