      It’s a weeping willow seed pod. Honestly it must be a beautifully mature tree. Let nature be nature and stop looking for perfection.

      Old willow catkins. Our local primary school, quite some years ago, used to have pupils come and collect them from gardens in the town I grew up in. They got used in craft projects at the school, although quite what those were I never knew.

      I wonder if they still do that, probably not. Health and Safety or something I imagine.

      Birds also grabbed them to line their nests with too. Blue tits, great tits, and robins, as I recall.
