On the sun facing side , I will guess hopefully that is the grass side , stick in some, ( two or three ) well spaced golden gage/gean / or traditional damson and as they grow , tie them in and espalier them to face the hedge so you will have a crop of small fruits for jam , chutney or just munching.

Plant some honeysuckle and wind it into the hedging horizontally as it grows?
Don’t forget to lay the hedge, either get someone in or watch a lot of videos. Its makes for a thicker hedge aswell as providing a better wildlife habit.
I’ve done exactly the same for a bit in my garden where the neighbours fence came down, which they are refusing to repair. Nice mix of hawthorn, blackthorn and guelder rose. Well excited for it to blossom

I did the same several years ago. Having just spent the past two weeks pruning it and taking it to the dump I’m not quite as keen on it (I’m 70 and it’s getting hard) but I don’t regret it. I love how each bush grows independently so in summer it’s more like a wood and it’s full of sparrow song even though I can’t see any of them.
