First off, stop rawdogging that beast – the glochids are bastards when they get in your skin.
Second, ram that bad boy about half way into some dry soil. Wait 2 weeks, then start sparingly watering. After a couple months ignore it and it will do fine on just rain

Yup, straight into or onto the dirt. The point going down will probably give you better initial growth, but it should grow regardless.

Toss it on the ground, maybe water it every now and then.

Do you want it to grow in a pot? Fill a pot with dirt, lay paddle on dirt.
Do you want it to grow in the ground? Lay it on the ground in the spot where you want it to grow.
Either way, it will root on its own. You don’t need to do anything more.
