      Lots of thatch, it’s been left. Rake out the dead and reduce the height by a third when mowing. Feed in March and see what comes back, regular weekly mowing to maintain height and increase shoot density. Remove the clippings when you mow to start with. If you mulch mow then only take 5mm off the leaf so mowing twice or three times a week, or get a robomower.

      If it’s still thin, scarify and seed in September.
