Danke

Put a waterslide on it
What way does it face? Bit hard to tell from that photo but I don’t see why you can’t put in a large patio and have some flower beds all around the sides.
There’s loads of potential here, but it would completely depend on what you want from the space & conditions e.g. where it gets sun in the afternoon / evening etc.
One of the real joys of gardening is that you can continue to develop the space over time, watch things grow, try new stuff, make mistakes… So try not to think of it as a one off job… you could spend as much or as little money / time as you like.
One thing you’d probably want to do for entertaining is get a good patio or some decking in. Difficult to provide costs because it completely depends on size, materials, whether you’d want to learn a new skill & do the work yourself etc.
But in answer to your question: no it definitely isn’t a lost cause.
Loads of potential! I’d like to put some paving down to put chairs on, dig out some beds (where would depend on the light situation), some bushes, maybe ferns and woodland plants in a shady corner. Scarify and sow some clover and extra grass seed in the lawn, too.
fruit and pollinator plants. nature needs as much help as it can get, screw lawns especially one you cant walk on for half the year cause its too muddy.
