ask them if picking cuttings from the floor is ok bc thats what proplifting is

Wtf it does not matter if its a chain or not. Stealing is stealing. And stores are well in their right to keep an eye on that. I had plants in my store (a chain store oh noooo) and people would break and ruin these plants for free props.
Floor/broken off is a different story

Hot take: prop lifting is more akin to piracy than theft.

Pinching is wrong, picking up trash off the ground is not. I won’t damage any product but if it’s just laying on the ground it’s fair game, especially since I’m probably buying something anyways. Just chuck it into the cart and go through the checkout as normal

It’s never stealing, it’s always reappropriation when talking about corporations

If it’s on the floor, it’s fair game if you ask me.

I will not stop picking up props that have fallen on their own. That’s ridiculous

it’s a good point, though. even picking up “garbage” props off the ground without permission is still stealing. doesn’t matter if it’s “garbage” or not. I’ll almost always ask, usually i get a confused look with a “we don’t care it’s literally trash”, on rare occasion though someone will actually say “oh yes please help yourself”! never had someone say no

Ugh, string of pearls. No worry about me stealing, proplifting or even spending any money on them. They are nothing but Pots of Sadness for me.

Quite frankly, if you can’t keep your retail nursery free of loose props I’m taking them. If people in these subs knew how many perfectly good plants in the commercial greenhouse industry get thrown just just for growing slightly too large to ship or missing growth deadlines, they would be absolutely disgusted.

Alright but what’s the morality of discreetly girdling nurseries Bradford pears with a razor?

A whole lot of people justifying stealing to themselves in here.
