That’s a ZZ plant, super easy plant and yes, just plant the stem in some soil and water it, it’s very easy to propagate.

I can’t wait for you to repot it. I found one on the floor somewhere and I hit it with some rooting hormone. A couple months later I repotted it and thought I grew a massive space bug.

I snapped a branch off of a ZZ plant at Home Depot. It took for fucking ever for it to propagate, but it eventually did. I started mine off by making a clean cut on the end and putting it in a jar of water with some rooting powder mixed in. Changed/added water as needed. The end of the cutting got mushy once or twice so I did end up trimming it at some point while it was still in the jar water and just kept waiting. Don’t remember exactly how long it took to show signs of rooting but at least a month or two, so don’t give up on yours prematurely.

I propagated mine per “leaf”, not by the “stem”. 🙂 Took months!

I have 4 leaves in foam floating for 3 months now! Finally have little roots peeking out 👏 If you wanted more than one or a fuller plant you can get the leaves to root also. Nice find!!!!

These do take absolutely forever HOWEVER I have many many leaves currently propagating. Literally I cut the individual leaves and put them in shot glasses. They’ve formed their own rhizomes and roots. Gonna have a very full baby plant
