I’ve had indoor plants for 20 years and still feel this way. I had various plants over the years, easy and hard, grown on a sill and in enclosures, hundreds of propogations, I even sold some because they grew too big or were too happy and had like millions of pups. I managed to nurse almost dead ones back to life and still. I managed to kill a phalaenopsis this summer. I’ve had it for 5 years, they are the easiest orchids and I killed it 😭

I check my plants at least 5 times a day even though nothing changes 🤣

I feel like this a lot since moving into my new house… It’s an old, dark, cold and damp properly, no one is settling despite various remedies and I want to throw them all away

I find indoor gardening is significantly more difficult than outdoor with pickier plants. There’s no ecosystem to balance pests. You need to control lighting, air movement, water, drainage, humidity and nutrients. Plants are evolved to exist outdoors. It can be tough to recreate those conditions they need inside.

Ugh absolutely! The first 3 month went so great that I told my family to call me Mother Nature because I have a gift (not really) but I was feeling pretty good about myself. Then came the spider mites and it’s been one thing after another ever since. Guess the real Mother Nature had to remind me who’s boss. But yeah my plants are not doing so great and it makes me feel like a failure. Not giving up yet but I can see why so many get discouraged. I got so much joy from those first 3 months and I’m not willing to let it go that easily.

That looks like a 4 star hotel for plants compared to my setup!

I just repotted 2 of my babies. It’s usually no big deal but bow they are both trying ti die. I feel so bad. I should have left them alone 🙁

Part of the role of a parent is to worry.

Regardless of what you parent over.

Yes! I just moved to a place with not much light. Every plant is struggling and it feels bad. I have decided to focus most on the ones that can still strive with little light (like my monsteras and Chinese evergreens).

Yes, but the problem children also give me the most satisfaction when they thrive!

I want to become a plant mom but I have no idea where to start. I had a simple Venus fly trap that gave me so much trouble. I couldn’t do enough research to figure out how to save it. I love it though. Why did mold keep sprouting on my terracotta pot?! I got the best peat moss you could buy 🙁
