Kleiner Zaun, der vor etwa 12 bis 18 Monaten mit Cuprinol Ducksback (5 Jahre, mein Arsch) gestrichen wurde. Abgeschliffen und bereit für etwas Neues.
Haben Sie Erfahrung mit einem davon und welcher ist am widerstandsfähigsten?
Der Entenrücken nutzte sich grundsätzlich ab, verblasste und wurde sehr schnell von Algen überwuchert.

Get ready to paint it again next year… 5 years – my ass.
I can’t comment on longevity yet but this year I bought the Ronseal 5+ and I’m pleased with how it looks and how easy it is to apply. It did take 3 coats for the colour I chose and the bucket does say if you want it to last 5 years it needs 2-3 coats depending on the type of wood you are painting. I have used Cuprinol but not the one you have there it’s too expensive to do all the fence with.
Where I used to live before I used Cuprinol fence paint and with 1-2 coats it lasted about 3 years before it started to fade.
I have a lot more fence to paint so I’m doing 3 coats with the Ronseal whenever we get dry spells. Make sure the fence is dry or it won’t take.

I used Cuprinol and got 2-3 years out of it before needing attention. Closer to 2 for parts more exposed to the weather.
Barn paint, lasts 15yrs+ on the side of my barn, can’t see why it would be different on a fence.

Ronseal has held three years and counting when applied with three coats (you can slap it on though, not too much burden) – will probs redo after this winter. Word of warning, I find the colours are completely off what’s promised so expect the unexpected there
I used fence life plus on a fence about 5 years ago. Two years ago it blew down, I rebuilt it but had to get some new panels. When I painted the new the difference between them and the old wasn’t that significant.
Most of these are water-based (environmentally friendly) preservatives or stains.
If you really want them to give you a longer protection expectancy, then solvent based paints are really the answer to longevity. Despite what others say on the tin.
The not environmentally product, in my opinion, is more environmentally friendly as you don’t have to keep buying and reapplying every 2-5 years.

Fence life plus on new fences, I did in 2020 and then re-did about 2 months ago as I was changing some stuff in the garden anyway.
Old fence panels on neighbours side….not so great. Probably could have been done every 6 months to build it up! It’s worn off very badly and looks silvery. We also used the charcoal grey. I couldn’t be arsed to finish it as I was using a brush so it didn’t all drip through to neighbours brown side. So I half light CG and half silver. Keeping my finger crossed for strong winds this winter!!!
sanding down a fence? what for?
You want something that soaks in not sits on top, That Cuprinol is pretty colours but not long lasting.
Hijacking this thread, what prep do you you need to do? Sand off any green?
I don’t understand why you sanded off what was already there?? That’s extra paint you lost for no reason. All that’s needed is a wash off, then dry and paint over the top.
Did you do two coats when you first painted them? And are you putting it on thick enough? It absolutely should last longer than what you got.
Anyway, we use the Cuprinol Garden Shades and it’s on its 3rd year now, still looking good
Fence Life Plus is what I’ve done mine with earlier this year and I fully expect to have to top it up a bit next year, despite the claims on the tub.
Ronseal 5+ is good, my south coast wood has some crazy salty rain and hot sun! I spruce up every year. It holds its own though!
I did similar research this summer and went with tinted Zinsser Allcoat exterior paint for fence and shed, applied with a sprayer. It goes on very well and dries quickly ready for recoat within an hour. Very happy with the finish, which seems pretty robust. though I can’t say yet whether it will really last 15 years… only downside is the price. It isn’t cheap.
None of these. A good barn paint. Zinsser if you want top quality or Bedec
I wont touch water based paints again, they are useless. Watched my parents repaint their fence every 2 years for a decade +.
I’ve been using Barretines recently. Even bought a proper sprayer for it, for most of the work.

Avoid decking paint, I’ve had a big lesson learned there 🙈

Cupribol for me but the problem is green stuff growing on it where it gets the most moisture and the least sun. Not sure if better brands help avoid this or they are all prone to it?
