Glad to see someone else acquires plants “on the way home from the bar”

Remove the flower so it can put energy into growing roots, this is standard practice and these guys grow quickly so dont worry about hurting it

Tradescantia pallida. They grow like weeds outside but I have horrible luck with them in containers.

So I have a cutting of one of these in water right now and was wondering if its ok to get rid of the blooms, because this one little cutting has seriously flowered like 5 times since I put it in water. It’s been well over a week and no signs of roots at all, which is unusual for tradescantia of other types. Any other tradescantia I’ve ever propped in water has started growing roots in less than 48 hours. I knew it probably wasn’t able to grow roots because it was spending so much energy blooming over and over. I’m hoping it’s done blooming now, wishing I had enough sense to remove the blooms a week ago, hoping it still has a chance, and also glad that u posted this so I didn’t have to 😂
