try putting it in soil, i let mine get to that point in a wet paper towel then plant them and they figure it out themselves

Mine did that too. The one that grew fast is tall and has less leaves and the one that grew slower is shorter with more leaves. I was worried about it for a long time but it figured itself out. Its kinda fun to be able to compare them as they were growing.

Yessss! Just be patient 😌 I accidentally destroyed an avocado seed while putting the cocktail sticks in, it rotted and split in half… I didn’t want to give up on it. This was October last year! I’ve been changing the water regularly, and within the last few weeks it’s started to root and a little sprout appeared and now a leaf/stem! It’s doing really well.
Don’t give up 🖤

I’m impressed that this method works at all for some. for me it was apparently too much maintenance considering how long it took for anything to change. so I started just tossing my avocado seeds on a compost heap to discard them. when I harvested that compost a year later, I accidentally destroyed countless avocado seedlings…
nowadays I just keep a big tray with a few centimeters of my own finished compost (unsterilised, so including little critters that are happy to stay where they are) that i toss random seeds on and stick cuttings in for propagation. my avocado seeds go on this tray too and effortlessly sprout strong and tall before I plant them into bigger pots. ~4/5 seeds sprout sooner or later, just from sharing a space with other babies that are on it more intentionally.
added bonus: the wide and usually moist surface area of that tray does tons to increase humidity for my other house plants too
