The gardens near my home have been cultivating these for the past few years. They have a small area of them on display every year and carefully collect their seeds for propagation. Each year their population grows little by little. The first time I saw one I stopped dead in my tracks. It’s one of the most beautiful flowers I have ever seen. Thank you for sharing this image!

Very serious about not being eaten. Very pretty. Perfection. This plant is life goals.

A sapphire ghost of the high peaks, it unfurls its sky-steeped silk to cradle a heart of mountain gold.

I just though Christoper Nolan made this flower up in the dark knight movie

    7. Pretty but powerful. Makes sense they’re hard to grow outside the Himalayas.Something this beautiful doesn’t give itself away easily.

    8. That is crazy that it is blue in color. Very rare thing to happen in nature

    9. Yes I was thinking the Himalayas … they are actually so different as to be another world . You are lucky to have seen this first hand. Is there a scent to the flower?

I can see what looks like buds farther down the flower stalk. Are you planning to go back to photograph those when they bloom? Did you see other poppies with multiple blooms?

There’s a beautiful garden, Branklyn, near Perth Scotland that has a collection of meconopsis.
