    1. I am interested in starting asparagus as it is my favorite vegetable.
How often can you harvest a bundle of asparagus post 3 years?

    2. Congratulations. I had my first harvest too this year, after waiting 3 years.

They take three years to grow? I had no idea!

How did you know when to water and how much?

    4. What, did we all plant asparagus at the same time? Year 3 for me, too, but too early to know what’s going to come up.

    5. I just planted seven of my 2(?) year crowns today! When I (31M) am a feeble old man perhaps I too shall enjoy

Same! harvested my purple asparagus this year too! It was so huge, plump, and sweet! Now they gone to fern and are set with loads of seeds! I’ve been throwing them in places that get damp and some sun. I hope to have an asparagus forest :3

Those look amazing! I’m wanting to do asparagus but I’m not sure where to put it. This is my third year actually attempting to garden for real and not just piddle around. I’m still figuring my spaces out.

The best tip I ever got working at a bike shop was a bag of freshly picked asparagus. Way better than a 6–pack.

Congratulations! It looks gorgeous. I planted it at my previous home and then forgot about it and it just kept coming back on its own every year. It’s the only reason I was sad to leave that place. Loved seeing my 3 random asparagus stalks every spring.

Enjoy. My Mom had a 2×3 foot patch of asparagus in our back yard in MS when I was growing up. I can tell you that asparagus picked that day and then cooked on a baking sheet with a little lemon juice and sale/pepper. Is awesome.

    15. I bet three years of effort taste delicious ✨ congratulations OP, enjoy your meal 🌼

That’s awesome! My neighbors use to have some in the alley way, but other neighbors took it upon themselves to spray it and kill it…

Hi! I have heard these can take over beds and may spread to others nearby. The millennial gardener page said he planted his and the other beds nearby had asparagus roots only 3 inches down. Curious how that has been for you! Thanks!

YO!! Me too! But mine aren’t as thick and prolific as yours, but it’s been so cool to finally enjoy little spears right out of the garden after the long wait!
