Wow, this is so interesting! Please share pictures with us, once the agave is blooming! I would really appreciate seeing it! However, I am afraid the plant will die soon after it has finished blooming. :/

Yes it’s flowers, maybe seed and a slow decline. Some offset or produce bulbils

If it’s taken that long to bloom it’s going to stick around for at least a few more years. The leaves will change color and slowly shrivel up, but it’s going to take awhile for your plant to fully rot and die. I’ve seen Agave Parryi that last for years after blooming.

You will know when it’s time to dig it up and throw it away.

Celebrate! Your agave is ready to finish its journey on earth. It will reward you with magnificent flowers which will feed hummingbirds, bees, moths. Hundreds of seeds and pups will be produced and the memory will live on. Leave a few pups to ember your friend and pass on some to friends so the memory will live on.

Not plant related, but i absolutely love the aesthetic of your house

Your bloom will keep growing and bloom, take pictures! The exhausted main plant will put out pups around the base if you are lucky and you can replant the pups in several places, including the same place as the mother. If it is a variety that primarily seeds, save the seeds. Your house is lovely.

Is the tortoise real? Is it a pet or wild? Does it just chill there?

The fact some people actually live in houses like this always breaks my brain.

my neighbors had one bloom 5+ years ago and the stem has turned into a bird home 😂

It should get around 12 ft tall and flower. Your agave has lived it’s life. Collect those seeds and start again.

How special and what a cool thing to experience! Please please please document this journey and share with us!

    15. If you have TikTok there was a lady who documented hers throwing the shoot and blossoming, I believe it was last summer and it took at least a month if not longer. If you have trouble finding it let me know and I’ll see if I can get the user name for you.

Yes, it’s reaching the end of its lifespan. Luckily it’ll produce offspring you can plant. I love your home by the way.
