What a dedication! Looks great! How many years did i take for wisteria to look like 2nd picture?

Now that’s how you do a job, absolutely outrageous behaviour 10/10

Looks like hard work – I’m sure it will be worth the effort a+

This looks like a labour of love and the sweetest results. So so worth it!

Please post and update once she blooms.

    Well done OP 🪻

Wow. I am blown away by your wisteria. I’m not surprised you did what you did, it needed to be done. Do you prune it to 2/3 buds in January/February or do you prune it another way? Need tips for my wisteria.

Edited to add: your carpentry is 👌🏻

  6. That’s bloody good effort, well done!

I hope my Wisteria looks that good one day.

This post kept making me double take. My sister’s old house had a pergola just like that, with the same slabs. The gate and garage are also in the same place. The big garden is the same too, complete with oil tank.

To make it more weird, her husband is a joiner and they had a black and white spaniel that looks just like yours!

Edit: almost forgot to say great work too!

I’m going mad maybe but you posted photos of this exact pergola/plant a couple of days ago but said jt was a jasmine plant…

    A masterclass.

Please share updates as your beloved plants show their appreciation.

They are very fortunate, much loved plants, for sure.

    Thank you for inspiring others…….

That’s impressive! Your wisteria is at least 20 years old, probably significantly more.

  11. I know I should post this myself but can wisteria’s be moved and if so, how much would it cost if getting someone in? We have a very mature one – decades old – but due to an extension the pergola is coming down and I’m afraid unless there is a solution to move the wisteria away from the house, it will have to be removed.

This is such impressive work! I’ve inherited a beautiful old wisteria on a rotting falling down pergola which is attached to a rotting falling down fence and was wondering if I could replace it piece by piece before sorting the fencing! You are inspiring me, though my pergola is much smaller and much simpler to be honest!

OP, your joiner looks dog tired. You really ought to give them a rest!

    Incredible work, I’m really impressed!

What an absolutely fabulous job!!!!total creds to you. Brilliant. I love it when someone goes the extra mile to save a wonderful plant 🪴💕💕👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

  15. I had a wisteria I’d raised from a seed indoors. It got big enough it had to go outside, so I put it out, and it promptly died…

    Looks amazing!

Do you do anything particular to get it to bloom so well? It looks like it’s in a fairly small pot considering the size of it.

I have one in a pot that hasn’t bloomed since I bought it, only 2 or 3 years ago so still a baby compared to yours. Moving house this year and will have a decent sized garden so will probably find somewhere in the ground for it.

  17. I would suggest mulching the ground with compost or well rotted manure to help it recover from any accidental damage.

Wonderful. I have one but it’s intertwined with an old metal gazebo frame now. I am dreading the day we have to move her or the frame.. Grew her from a baby, took 9 years to flower and is beautiful each year is now21 year old 💜
