  1. Yeah I spotted a Ladybird on my hedge, fully out. Hopefully we don’t get any more frost that would finish them off.

Hopefully they’re still around when the aphids come, so there’s less repeat of last year.

Where in the UK are you? Up in the North East it’s still well under 10 degrees most days, spring is definitely a while away yet for us

I’ve got my ladybird attracting plants ready to sow! Need them to help keep the scale on my pine saplings under control. Didn’t realise they were out already though.

Spring please hurry up and get here. I’ve had enough of the rain, cloud, and cold.

I found my first ladybird of the year this morning while I was potting up some maples. It was on a wooden crate. I gently placed it on one of my maples which already had tons of tiny aphids between its buds. God speed little red friends!

Proper ladybirds as well. I keep seeing the Asian/ harlequin ladybirds that have too many spots. 🐞

It was a joy to do a little bit of gardening today 🌞 I also saw ladybirds 🐞 And I found a little rusty brown toad in the garden! I was especially pleased about this because I have a tiny new build garden that was essentially a desert before we moved in a year ago. I’ve worked hard to make it a haven for wildlife and it’s slowly happening!

I agree, it made me so happy. Well done, that’s incredible. New build postage stamp here too! Though I think I’d have a heart attack if I saw a toad.

  10. Also so one ladybird today sitting on a leaf and had exactly same thought 🥰

Good for the aphids apparently. Friend of mine had the fuckers everywhere, was doing the soapy water thing. Then he announced “…I’ve sent off for ladybugs…biological warfare is the key…I shall unleashed spotty tyranids to thin their ranks…”
