What are they? I’ve never seen that, though the leaves look like marigolds to me. Are they an annual? I’d plant an annual like that.

I love ranunculus but as soon as I plant them the flowers become rabbit food. Could also be squirrels getting after them. They eat my tulip flowers too. One year I put cages around all of them to keep the varmint out. It kept me from loosing the blooms but it made my yard look crazy.
