Ich habe diese Pflanze in San Isidro del General, San José, Costa Rica gefunden und möchte wissen, ob es sicher ist, diese Früchte zu essen, ich liebe es, Dinge zu essen
Unfortunately it is very toxic unless properly processed, so not worth the risk. But also it is a cycad which is an ancient plant family!

Dude, why do you want to eat a random stuff? Really, cmon.

This is a cardboard palm, a type of cycad. All cycads are poisonous

I wouldn’t. It’s going to be a slow painful suicide.

It’s a coontie. The seeds are crazy poisonous as most cycads are. But there are specialized rodents that can eat them.

If you have to ask reddit if it’s edible, it’s not. I recommend putting a tiny amount of effort into IDing it yourself, and then asking reddit for confirmation on the ID, and follow up questions on why folks think they can tell what it is. Do not start seriously thinking about consuming anything until you have some idea of what it might be

It’s Bay rush / coontie (Zamia integrifolia). Traditionally , it was used by the natives to make starch. The whole plant is highly toxic and can cause liver failure or even central nervous system failure.

I am not sure what the proper name is, but in my country we call it a “Broodboom” (directly translating to “Bread Tree”) no idea why though since it is not edible. Some varieties can be very valuable.

No, highly toxic
Even wash your hands after touching them a lot
Zamia?
Some kind of zamia species or relative of zamia.
You can eat everything once, this is one of those things
Compare to [+Zamia integrifolia+](https://gardeningsolutions.ifas.ufl.edu/plants/trees-and-shrubs/palms-and-cycads/coontie/) the coontie palm! Looks very similar.

Technically, you can eat anything once.
