This is a cardboard palm, a type of cycad. All cycads are poisonous

I too wish I could eat cycad seeds. they look like they’d taste very good

It’s a coontie. The seeds are crazy poisonous as most cycads are. But there are specialized rodents that can eat them.

    4. If you have to ask reddit if it’s edible, it’s not. I recommend putting a tiny amount of effort into IDing it yourself, and then asking reddit for confirmation on the ID, and follow up questions on why folks think they can tell what it is. Do not start seriously thinking about consuming anything until you have some idea of what it might be

It’s Bay rush / coontie (Zamia integrifolia). Traditionally , it was used by the natives to make starch. The whole plant is highly toxic and can cause liver failure or even central nervous system failure.

I am not sure what the proper name is, but in my country we call it a “Broodboom” (directly translating to “Bread Tree”) no idea why though since it is not edible. Some varieties can be very valuable.
