Ich habe in meinem Garten ein Loch gegraben, um einen Spalierapfelbaum zu pflanzen. Der Spaten brach aufgrund eines sehr starken Wurzelsystems etwa einen Fuß unter der Erde entzwei.
Etwa 30 Meter diagonal entfernt steht ein Baum, aber in der näheren Umgebung gibt es keine Pflanzen. Von welcher Pflanze könnte das sein? Es scheint nicht zu verrotten, daher gehe ich davon aus, dass die Pflanze nicht tot ist (es sei denn, ich habe sie gerade getötet).

Looks like a typical tree root to me.
I’d say they’re tree roots, they can go really far depending on the size of said tree
I have shallow connifer roots that look similar
More worrying where did your spade come from? I’d only buy decent spades from a reputable garden centre or builders merchants. Breaking a spade sounds as if you could injure yourself. Buy a Roughneck ROU64549 Heat Treated Digging Bar with Long Chisel. They chop through smaller roots in no time and make garden work much easier.

How big/what type of tree?
I’d be leaning towards that. Many trees can have root systems that spread out more than twice their height.
Could be ivy, I’ve seen roots easily bigger than that from ivy and they stretch out meters away from the main plant, they look just like that
