      You’ll have to scratch the bark with your fingernail to see if they’re still alive. The cambium layer just under the bark will be green if they’re still living. The branches and trunk will be brittle and brown beneath the bark if not

      Depends on your climate. I’m in winter right now, but it doesn’t get super crazy cold here so now is actually the best time for me to plant. So I would plant them in the ground and cross my fingers, but plants usually thrive best in the ground and they’d probably be happy. You said you’re in a subtropical environment so idk if it’s still warm where you are and I’m not sure if you’re planning to keep them in pots or not
