Mine too… and it suffered a bit with a late frost this year (last year?) …. Last season?
Jan.
The daffs were knocked back in Jan after reaching tall wobbly size, and I didn’t have as fabulous blooms as I could have. But overall I think they cope well even with the early sprouting and can’t confidently say that my crap blooms were because of this.

Seeing the same thing with daffodils

I’m in the Midlands and these daffodils are in a sheltered position
Same! I wonder if this means they won’t come up and flourish in spring?
They’ll be fine. If it cools off they’ll survive and restart growing when it thaws.
It doesn’t. It’s normal in winter for them to start appearing, they won’t flower until spring though
Yeah, you and everyone else! Blame the early cold snap, followed by unusually warm start to winter and plants assume it must be spring 😮💨 as if the poor buggers need any more messing about this year!
Good stuff
Fr my lemon tree is shooting flowers
It’s fairly normal for daffodils to start to appear in December or January. They *flower* in March, but it takes some time for them to grow to flowering size in the cold conditions of winter and early spring, so they need to start early.
Also, they are fully hardy. Unless you are expecting to get temperatures of -10c or lower in January then there is no risk of the being “wiped out”.
Bulbs do tend to appear in Winter, don’t they? Hopefully they’ll be glorious in a couple of months.
That’s impressive! The plants look eager to get started. Hopefully, the cold weather doesn’t set them back too much.
Your garden is ahead of the season! Hopefully, the cold snap won’t cause too much trouble for the bulbs.
I’ve seen a few things peak out already. Bit worried, as we’re meant to be getting bad frost again next week.
I’m on the Powys / Shropshire border near to Llangollen and have got cowslips in flower. They’re in a fairly sheltered spot by the fence but it was still a bit of a surprise.
Its normal. They can take frosts.
Well, no, this happens every winter. And every year people post similar nonsense about how their bulbs are coming up in winter. Yawn.
Same here. Bulbs popping up already.
It’s always a bit of a gamble when the weather’s this unpredictable, but it’s nice to see everything coming to life early.
