Hey, please try to plant some native versions instead. American Holly gets just as big and beautiful and there are other natives that look great in a garden.

If you like the red berries/evergreen foliage and would like to plant native look for an American Holly called ‘Merry Christmas’. The ‘Merry Christmas’ cultivar is all female and you’ll need a male cultivar like ‘Jersey Knight’ to get berries. The ‘crooenburg’ variety is self fertile and you will only need one.
